A simple but effective science experiment was prepared by practitioner Andrea from Toddler Plus. The children put on their goggles and jackets and sat waiting for the experiment to begin. Andrea explained to the children the name of each ingredient and what was going to happen.
Children chose an apple or a star fruit and one by one Andrea cut a hole into the apples. Food colouring was added to the hole in the apple as-well as drizzled over the star fruit.Children took it in turns to use a spoon to scoop some baking powder out of the pot and place it in the hole in the apple.Instead of putting the baking powder inside the star fruit it was sprinkled over the skin of the fruit. Using a pippet the children squeezed vinegar out of the pot and squirted it over the fruit, as the vinegar mixed with the baking powder it caused a bubbly reaction. Children were shouting and pointing "Bubbles" "What's happened" "It's green" This fun experiment was enjoyed by all,it gave the children the opportunity to role play being scientists and to learn about science from a young age.
