A day trip to Hatton Country World
The children from Toddler Room had a unforgettable day out at Hatton Country Farm, they were very excited coming into nursery and couldn't wait to see the animals. Hatton County World is set in a beautiful surroundings offering vast amounts of activities for both children and families to join in with.Instead of a normal day at Nursery the children were out and about on an adventure around Hatton Country World. Practitioners helped the children off the bus, grouped them together and set off on adventure. The goats were very nosy,they could hear the children approaching so they decided to peek their heads over the fence to say hello but more importantly it was feeding time. The children were given little pots containing food for the goats, they held their hands out and waited for the goats to take the food. Feeding the goats was enjoyed by all the children they wanted to feed them all day long but with a little persuasion from practitioners it was to go and find some other animals.
Nearby were some guinea pigs who were happily playing with one another, the children were able to stroke them and feed them some lettuce, the children did look a little puzzled as to why the guinea pigs were eating lettuce, however after an explanation from the practitioners everything seemed ok. Across the way were some pigs who by the looks of it were very tired as they were laying down having a rest, the children looked over the wall and were fascinated at watching them sleep. Being close to these animals enabled the children to discover what animals actually look like, it also provided opportunities for excellent conversations between one another, not only that it helped teach children from a young age about the world around them.Other animals that were around for the children to look at were chickens, ducks and rabbits, the children stood and watched the chickens waddling around. Unfortunately the children were less interested in the rabbits as they have their own Rabbits at Nursery called Peter and Benji.The next stop on the adventure was the Reptile area where snakes, spiders and dragons lived, practitioners lifted the children up to look in the glass tanks. Children were mesmerized by the crawling spiders, they watched in anticipation as they crawled up the side of the tank. The Reptile area was a great place to introduce children to animals they may never of seen before,it allowed children the opportunity to get up close to these animals and learn more about them in a safe environment.The children climbed aboard the cups and saucers to enjoy a ride or two, this gave their little legs a rest from all the walking. The big slide attracted the children's attention they couldn't climb up the steps quick enough, with the practitioners help they whizzed down the slide and everyone including practitioners all had big grins on their faces when they ended up at the bottom. The large sit on tractor was a favourite with the children they all took it in turns to be the drivers whilst their friends sat back and enjoyed the pretend ride.

A large model demonstration cow was available for the children to investigate how milk comes from a cow, the children took it in turns to squeeze the udders and watch as the bucket filled up with water, practitioners explained that normally this would be milk but as it's not a real cow it's water.
This fun packed day was unforgettable, everyone climbed back on the coach and the children even managed to talk about their day before falling fast asleep.
