Developing Babies Physical Skills
The many ways we support babies physical development at nursery
At Daisykins Nursery, the babies have been developing their physical skills. Daisy Tumble, our dedicated two-level soft play, is a great addition to our nursery. It helps support our children's physical development. This added room is very popular with the children and is often requested to visit throughout the day.Our fantastic practitioners use their creative minds to introduce activities/experiences into Daisy Tumble, for example, hiding soft toys in various places and asking the children to find them, using positional language cues such as 'behind', 'under', 'above', 'next to' to describe where they were found. Storybooks and musical instruments are also taken into Daisy Tumble, enabling practitioners to further enhance children's learning opportunities. As our Daisy Tumble is a two-level soft play it is designed to support all ages of children's physical skills and is a perfect environment for developing our babies gross motor skills. Climbing in and out of the ball pit and up and down the low soft step is a firm favourite exercise for the babies. They often need that extra support to get into the ball pit but once they are in the fun begins as they throw and move the balls about as they go.[ngg src="galleries" ids="270" display="basic_slideshow"]Within our Baby Room, there are many other activities and resources that support children's physical development. The building blocks and velcro bricks are explored on a regular basis, with the babies sitting for a considerable amount of time, placing one block on top of another one. During Baby Room's everyday routine, the children join in action songs, enabling them to use various muscles and body parts for particular skills, for example, holding hands with their friends and pretending to row the boat.[ngg src="galleries" ids="271" display="basic_slideshow"]In early years it is crucial that children 0f all ages are provided with experiences and activities to support their physical development. This is paramount as physical development is one of the three primes areas of learning and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage With this in mind, physical learning opportunities, incorporating both fine and gross motor skills, are offered to children at Daisykins Nursery on a daily basis.
