Hatton Country World
Great Dais pre school had a brilliant day when they visited Hatton Country World as part of their growing and change topic, this was also to celebrate the end of the year for many of the children before they leave to go to Primary School. When the day of the trip arrived the children were all very excited and all ate their breakfast quickly so they could stand and look out of the window for the coach to arrive. When the coach arrived the children were all very sensible and got their bags and carefully walked out and took their seats on the coach.
When they arrived at Hatton the first thing the children went to experience was a 'scales and tails' talk. Here the children were able to touch a snake skin which had been shed, they discussed how the skin felt, the size of it and the children were all very interested and asked lots of questions. After seeing the snake skin the children then got to see and touch a real snake, they were all very brave and with practitioners close by to offer some support and encouragement the children enjoyed meeting the snake.
The next stop was the guinea pig village where the children had the opportunity to meet lots of guinea pigs including some baby ones. The children were able to hold and stroke them, which they all enjoyed.
After the guinea pigs were safely back in their pens it was time to go and feed the goats. The children were able to help out and feed them if they wanted to but some chose just to watch. Lots of the children laughed as the goats licked the food out of their hands.
The children then split off into two groups to have some free play time. One group of children went to the park where they had lots of fun climbing the frames and running around, the other group had fun on the giant vertical slide. Much of the talk between the children was about what they had learnt from the mornings activities. After lots of running around Great Dais were ready to enjoy a picnic lunch in the dining room. After refuelling at lunch time the children then enjoyed a tractor ride around Hatton Country World to see all the different animals.
Before getting back on the coach to go back to nursery everybody enjoyed a play in the giant soft play.
When arriving back at nursery the children couldn't wait to tell their parents all about their eventful day and what they had learnt.
