Mark marking in coloured mash potatao

Sensory activity to help develop children's mark making skills

Children watched as a practitioner mixed Instant mash with food coloured and water to create a gooey consistency. They helped mixed the ingredients together using their paintbrushes. Conversations were exchanged regarding the colour that was being made. One child requested mixing the blue and red food colouring together to create another colour.Children used their paintbrushes and their fingers to make various marks in the mashed potato. They were happy to squelch the mixture between their fingers. They made circular marks in the mashed potato and they played with this sensory activity for a considerable amount of time with their peers.
