Outstanding Indoor learning environment
Daisykins nursery in Rugby for the second year running has been recognised by Nursery Management for our excellent high standards of practice, management and teamwork, we were short-listed as one of top 5 five nurseries in the UK for our Indoor Learning Environment. Being recognised for this achievement is a great success and we are proud to have achieved so much in the past year and to have maintained a fantastic indoor environment which meets all of our children's needs.
Our indoor environment is always changing to build on our children's interests and to extend their learning across the board and we are thrilled to be recognised by Nursery Management Today and to be within the top five in the country. The layout of our nursery enables us to have an ever changing environment with easily accessible specialist rooms all created by our practitioners and designed with the child at the heart of it and this is something which sets us apart from other nurseries and has enabled us to achieve such high recognition.
Coming within the top five means a lot to everyone here at Daisykins as we all aim to achieve the highest possible care and practice for the children and this award has demonstrated we are taking all the steps possible to achieving the best possible outcomes for all the children here.
We believe the making of an outstanding indoor learning environment is about extending a child's learning through a combination of practice, enabling resources and enabling environment. Giving children time in our specialist room allows them to learn and develop as the facilities we provide allows them to leave what they have been working on or playing with and then come back to it the next day, therefore creating larger projects.
Our Discovery dais science lab offers first hand experiences of the world around us.,during circle time a child wanted to share a birds nest which they found at their grandparents house. All children expressed an interest with the nest, so practitioners acted upon this by incorporating wildlife into their planning. The children dressed up in their white coats and goggles and used magnifying glasses, microscopes and overhead projector to study the birds nest more closely. The children were able to to take their own pictures with cameras to add to their learning journeys, making this learning experience more memorable for the children. This was a very valuable learning opportunity as it was child initiated and inspired the children to flourish.
Our nursery is designed to include easily accessible specialist rooms that encourage children to modify behaviour to different situation, therefore improving their awareness, helping deal with different social situation later on in life. Our indoor multi-level soft play is such an exciting place for children to create their own world either alone or with each other, giving a greater scope to develop gross motor skills and harness creativity in a fun, challenging way.Stories can be extended, role play can be developed and energy can be expelled on a cold rainy day. For example in our soft play area the children have the chance to push their creative minds to the limit, some of our children have expressed the wish to imagine the soft play as a pirate ship, this incorporates all spectrum of the EYFS and of course stimulate their creativity to another level, allowing their learning to thrive.
Our indoor learning enhances and builds on children's schemas for example children are able to hang upside down in our multi level soft play and gather a range of views from a different position , for example children enjoy pretending to be monkeys in the soft play and this enables them to have the experience of hanging upside down, this is part of the orientation schema.
