Outdoor Festive Fun!
Exploring the activities out in the garden
The children at Daisykins Day Nursery in Rugby have had great fun exploring the festive activities in the garden. With several explorative activities to engage in, the children were stuck for choice in deciding which one to play with first. The favourite activity among the different rooms appeared to be the potion and wish-making water tuff tray. [ngg src="galleries" ids="251" display="basic_slideshow"]The children enjoyed using the scoops to collect the water and transport it into the plastic jars, cauldrons and bowls. Vicky, one of our fantastic practitioners, supported the children to learn and use a range of vocabulary, such as 'more', 'pour', 'scoop' etc. She also played a vital role in praising the children and helping to boost their self-confidence by encouraging them to be independent in the activity, scooping the water and transferring it into different containers on their own. Not only did the activity develop the children's communication and language skills, but it also promoted their mathematical development. The children searched for the insects and minibeasts in the coloured water, showing a particular interest in finding the various different sized spiders. The children discussed the concept of size, excitedly showing the practitioner; "I got a small one!", "Look! I found the big one!", "Mine is small" etc. They were also keen to show the practitioner the other insects and minibeasts they had found, with one child eagerly holding their favourite up, saying "Froggy!".Click here to visit our Pinterest page for a variety of activities to continue your child's learning at home.
