Our Parent/Carer Teddy Bear Picnics
Throughout the month of July at Daisykins Nursery in Rugby we held Parent/Carer Teddy Bears Picnics for each of our rooms. We held them in the afternoon between 4-5pm to give the opportunity for more families to come along and join in the fun. We are very pleased to say we had a great turn out and they proved to be a real success! During these picnics parents/carers were invited in to join their children for a picnic at tea time. A selection of picnic foods were provided, including sausage rolls, sausages, carrot and cucumber sticks, cakes, party rings and of course teddy shaped crisps![ngg_images source="galleries" container_ids="218" exclusions="1750,1760,1761,1762,1763,1764,1765,1766,1767,1768,1769,1770,1771,1772,1773,1774,1775,1776,1777,1778,1779,1780,1781,1782" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow" gallery_width="600" gallery_height="400" cycle_effect="fade" cycle_interval="3" show_thumbnail_link="0" thumbnail_link_text="[Show picture list]" order_by="sortorder" order_direction="ASC" returns="included" maximum_entity_count="500"]The children were encouraged to make their own sandwiches, choosing between jam or cheese triangles to spread onto slices of bread. Once they had put their sandwiches together the children were then encouraged to use a teddy bear or gingerbread man/woman cutter to cut out their own sandwich shapes. The children were very pleased to see the finished result and then enjoyed eating them all up! It was also an opportunity for the parents/carers to see their children interacting with their friends and for them to have a chat with fellow parents. We are very pleased with how successful these picnics proved to be and will definitely be holding something similar in the near future so keep an eye out!
