Police Officer Visit
A very important visitor came to see the children in Great Dais Pre-school. They came in a special car wearing a uniform and a hat. It was a police officer from the local police station who had come as part of the children's stranger awareness topic. She encouraged the children to think about what we can do to keep ourselves safe and what the job of the police is.The children were all so excited to have a real police officer in for a session and all sat beautifully with their listening ears switched on. The police officer shared lots of helpful information with the children about how they can keep themselves safe when they are out in the community and which people are their to help them. As part of this topic the children have all had talks from the local town rangers and been on a safety walk through the local town . After all the good listening and beautiful sitting from the children they were taken outside for a special treat; a sit inside the police car. The police officer took groups of children outside and each of the were given the opportunity to sit inside the car and to look at the flashing blue light and to hear how loud the siren is. This session was memorable to the children and they all learnt much more from being informed by the police officer. The children all had so much fun and are now armed with many safety tips to keep themselves protected.
