Pre School's day out at Twycross Zoo

We're Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo

Over the last few months the children in Pre-School have been really interested in the many different types of zoo animals, therefore practitioners thought it would be a nice surprise to plan a trip to see some real animals in the flesh. Once the children heard they were off the zoo they were very eager to sing the song "We're going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo". On the day of the trip, the children were all very excited and eager to climb aboard the double-decker bus and set off on their animal spotting adventure.....Also aboard the bus were some parents and grandparents who decided to join us on our adventure. On entering the zoo the children split off into small groups with practitioners. During their walk around, the children were amazed at the sizes of some of the animals that they saw, especially the giraffes. Children used the words huge and tall to describe them. Many children stood watching the monkeys, chimpanzees and orangutans swinging from the branches,  rolling down the grass and in some cases having an afternoon sleep.[ngg_images source="galleries" container_ids="224" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow" gallery_width="600" gallery_height="400" cycle_effect="fade" cycle_interval="3" show_thumbnail_link="0" thumbnail_link_text="[Show picture list]" order_by="sortorder" order_direction="ASC" returns="included" maximum_entity_count="500"]Practitioners gave the children maps to use to direct the group around the Zoo. Throughout the day the children saw a vast mixture of animals such as bush dogs, flamingos, penguins, snakes, elephants, leopards, lots and lots of monkeys and many other animals. [ngg_images source="galleries" container_ids="225" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow" gallery_width="600" gallery_height="400" cycle_effect="fade" cycle_interval="3" show_thumbnail_link="0" thumbnail_link_text="[Show picture list]" order_by="sortorder" order_direction="ASC" returns="included" maximum_entity_count="500"]On the way back to the nursery the children talked about what their favourite animal was that they saw during the day, and we are sure they have been talking about these at home too.  The day at Twycross Zoo was an enjoyable day out from start to finish and we hope all the children, and adults that joined us for the day, enjoyed the trip too.[ngg_images source="galleries" container_ids="226" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow" gallery_width="600" gallery_height="400" cycle_effect="fade" cycle_interval="3" show_thumbnail_link="0" thumbnail_link_text="[Show picture list]" order_by="sortorder" order_direction="ASC" returns="included" maximum_entity_count="500"]
