Dolly's tea party
Baby plus have been very busy exploring the kitchen role play resources recently added to their room. A range of resources have been introduced to the room to make a cafe based on the children's current interests. A small table and chairs have been placed in the role play corner along with a range of easily accessible role play plates, tea cups, toaster, cooker and cooking utensils. The children were very keen to explore the resources and careful modelling of the play by practitioners really encouraged the children to develop their role play and express their thoughts. The children enjoyed using the kettle to pour tea for each other and then pretending to enjoy the drinks within the cups. The younger children in baby plus enjoyed filling and emptying the bowls with the plastic play food and some were able to pick certain fruits or vegetables when requested developing the children's understanding. The children developed personal, social and emotional development skills during the activity along with many other areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Dollies were also placed in the role play area and some of the children decided to make some dinner and feed the dollies. This was fantastic modelling for the children and enabled them to gain a wider understanding of the experiences they have had. The role play will continue to be accessible for the children and further role modelling by the practitioners will encourage the children to continue to develop.
