A summary of why Nursery World Short-listed list us as a deserving winner
Since it opened its doors in 2002, Daisykins day nursery has grown from a small provider to one that has an occupancy averaging 75 a day. Its pursuit of excellence has made it the nursery of choice for parents in Rugby. Its success and strength, can be attributed to the dedication, commitment and enthusiasm of its practitioners, led by a management team that is dynamic, inspiring, innovative and dedicated; and its conviction that its only through constant improvement that the nursery can meet its vision of providing one of the best early years settings in the UK.
To achieve an Outstanding Ofsted grade in 2009/10, both managers and practitioners have worked tirelessly to deliver excellence in all areas. With a staff strength of 23, the team work together, making innovative use of both practitioner strengths and a dynamic learning environment, which has captured the essence of the cutting edge of care and education in Early Years. Parents are encouraged to participate in many ways, including parent functions, workshops, coffee mornings, feedback sessions and outings. Regular, newsletters, emails and web updates keep parents informed. Our ‘Daisy news tree’ and learning journey books promote communication between home and nursery.
Daisykins adopts a culture of providing more than expected and this is practiced throughout the nursery. Each practitioner offers a Specialism, which also promotes practitioner’s personal development as well, as he/she is encouraged to research their Specialism and deliver it in an engaging, exciting and most importantly inclusive manner. Practitioners work with each other to ensure there is fluidity in the experiences the nursery offers each child.
The most important strength of the nursery is its shared belief of dynamism in its quest for excellence. It invests not just in the calibre of management and practitioners, but also in its facilities.
For over nine years, daisykins has been committed to offering excellence in care and education. It has stayed true to its vision of providing an early years setting that complements Rugby Town’s renowned educational establishments, such as Lawrence Sheriff School and Rugby School, and its commitment and dedication to the vision will continue for years to come.
