Watching The Dinosaur Egg Bath Bomb Dissolve
Children participating in a science experiment
You may have seen recently that the children at Daisykins @ Rugby Free have been busy completing some dinosaur activities. The children have been discussing dinosaur lifecycles and how dinosaurs come from eggs. Deputy Manager Sophie brought in a very special dinosaur egg for the children to investigate.
The dinosaur egg was a bath bomb with a hidden dinosaur surprise in the centre. Deputy manager Sophie talked to the children about what might happen when the dinosaur egg bath bomb was added to a tank of water. The children worked together to make some predictions and they made a joint hypothesis that the egg would fizz away in the water and leave behind a T-Rex dinosaur.
The children all gathered around as the egg was dropped into the water. As the children predicted the egg did start fizzing and as it did lots of bubbles were created. As the dinosaur egg fizzed away it began to turn to the water green. Some of the children commented on the colour of the water, others the way the bath bomb egg moved around as it fizzed and another commented on how the egg was slowly getting smaller and smaller.
The children watched intently with great focus displaying high levels of fascination all of which are important characteristics of effective learning. The children remained highly engaged the whole time and were so excited when they caught the first glimpse of the dinosaur appearing in the egg.
