Busy Week in Baby Room

What a fun week it has been in our Baby Room!

The babies in our Baby Room have participated in a range of fun and stimulating activities this week. They have been kept busy, engaging in the activities that were planned by Kaysha, who is based in Baby Room, and Vicky, our Head of Baby Room.

Displayed on the wall in the Baby Room is the children's mark making pictures. The largely rounded chalks were a brilliant choice enabling the babies to easily hold them to make marks on their paper.

With a great emphasis on mark making from an early age, a further activity was planned using painting pens. Again, these thick pens allowed the babies to independently hold then and brush the pens up and down on the paper.

With lots of resources accessible for the children to reach, the babies were particularly interested in the wooden beaded blocks. One child shook a block and listened to the noise it made. He then went on to build with the blocks, creating a simple structure.

In between meal times and sleep time the babies ventured off to Daisy Tumble, where they used the soft blocks to build towers and to spend some quality time bonding with their key person. Extending the children's interest of building, the practitioners moved the large soft blocks from their resources cupboard into the main play area within the room. The children used the blocks in many different ways; balancing them on their head, rolling or throwing them. As you can probably imagine, balancing them on their heads was one of the children's favourite actions.

As you can see the babies have had a busy week. After speaking to the practitioners in Baby Room we found that the babies are going to be joining in with lots more fun activities next week. We can't wait to see what they have planned!
