Joining in National Nursery Rhyme Week

A week of nursery rhymes at Daisykins Nursery

Children from all rooms at Daisykins Nursery in Rugby joined in National Nursery Rhyme Week. This fun week was an initiative to celebrate and promote the benefits of singing rhymes. Plenty of activities based on traditional nursery rhymes were planned both inside and out. [ngg src="galleries" ids="273" display="basic_slideshow"]Practitioners in Baby Room used nursery rhyme puppets as a visual aid as they sang songs with the children. The mobile babies were keen to join in the song 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat', showing their peers their rowing skills. This fun action song was not only great for supporting children's communication and language skills but also ideal for developing their physical skills.
Singing nursery rhymes were heard throughout the nursery in all the rooms. Practitioners used props to support the songs, providing further learning opportunities for the children. At Daisykins Nursery we fully understand the importance of promoting nursery rhymes. They can help develop children's emergent literacy skills, their phonic awareness and stimulation and by singing these songs frequently it can help develop children's creativity and imagination skills.
