Large Autumn abstract

Children joined together in baby room to create a large autumn abstract. Various sized tools were on offer for children to select and make marks with. This painting experience allowed all ages of children to participate even the little babies used their palmer grasp to hold the large handled paint brushes. Practitioners supported the children in encouraging them to feel the texture of the paint, they introduced new concepts and ideas such as colour mixing and creating patterns. As the children dipped their paint brushes into the paint they also ran their fingers threw the paint and squeezed their hands.   The children expressed their creativity and showed their excitement by splashing the paint around on the paper. This large painting abstract showed greater social interaction between all peers, children used body language and facial expressions to communicate their needs and practitioners worked together as a team to deliver this fun experience.Painting experiences can be very messy and parents are hesitant about setting this activity up in their home. However at Daisykins we see the true benefits of these activities for example children senses are stimulated as they are able to touch and feel different textures whilst also developing their eye hand co-ordination. Our Practitioners at Daisykins nursery strongly emphasise the importance of children’s language and social development and painting gives children the opportunity to build on developing these areas of development.Children are truly proud of their achievements what looks like a mess is actually a picture of their learning experience. Children enjoy watching others talk about their master piece on the wall and this aids their self esteem. When children paint there is no right or wrong way, they are able to make patterns based on their artistic styles and stages of development.
