Learning All About The Police

Pre School children joined in lots of activities based on the topic 'Police'

The children have engaged in several activities over the past two weeks, covering all areas of the EYFS curriculum. They developed their Personal, Social and Emotional Development through playing in the police station role-play area, both indoors and outdoors, and when playing at the small-world pallet or in police station small-world tuff trays.

These activities also helped to develop their Communication and Language and Expressive Arts and Design skills. The children engaged in a variety of mathematical activities, supporting their shape recognition, counting skills and number recognition. A tuff tray activity was set up with cars that were labelled with dots on, a car track and numbered policemen and police ladies. The children counted the number of dots on the cars and matched this to right numeral on the policeman or police lady.

The mark-making area became a firm favourite place to play, with children waiting for a space to make their WANTED poster. This then prompted the children to demonstrate their writing skills and their Understand the World abilities.

We hope that they have as much fun learning about Firemen/women as they did with the police!
