Fantastic start to the Pre School Term
Learning all about 'Peope Who Help Us'
Pre-School have had a fantastic start to the term, with all children really enjoying the ‘People Who Help Us’ theme that has so far focused on learning about the work of police officers.
Upon starting Pre-School in September 2018, each child’s parent/carer had been given a welcome pack, including an ‘All About Me - At Home’. Part of this form featured the parents/carers requests of what they would like their child to learn about when they are attending Daisykins Day Nursery. One parent/carer voiced that they would like their child to learn about various different occupations.
Over the Christmas period, one child also showed a keen interest in playing with the doctor's toys, even asking Father Christmas for some, and another group of children showed a huge interest in Paw Patrol, in particular, Marshall who rides a fire truck and helps the Mighty Pups to save the day. The Pre-School team decided to combine this parent/carers request and the children’s interests together to find a stimulus for the children’s learning this half term.
The ‘People Who Help Us’ topic began surrounding the role of police officers, what they do and how they help the community. After observing one of the Rugby BID officers passing the nursery, the children were inquisitive as to what they do and questioned if they were police officers.
The children were offered to learn about this the following week and were keen to take the practitioners up on their offer.
