Minors and Pre-School's Craft Mornings
During Pre-School Minors’ and Pre-schools’ craft mornings at Daisykins they also made their own reindeer food for Christmas Eve and a Christmas card. They used the Christmas stickers and different shaped pieces of paper to decorate a piece of folded card. The children were given the opportunity to make their own designs and choose who they wanted their card to be for. Another activity the children enjoyed taking part in was decorating their own Christmas biscuits, and this was very popular when the children were first asked what they wanted to take part in. They were encouraged to take it in turns using white, red and green icing and then add different Christmas sprinkles to make their own designs.[ngg_images source="galleries" container_ids="197" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow" gallery_width="600" gallery_height="400" cycle_effect="fade" cycle_interval="3" show_thumbnail_link="0" thumbnail_link_text="[Show picture list]" order_by="sortorder" order_direction="ASC" returns="included" maximum_entity_count="500"]During the Pre-School craft morning an activity of making wreaths out of pasta bows was also set up. A black tuft spot was set out with white pieces of paper in it and glue and spreaders. The children were encouraged to spread the glue onto the paper and then make circle shapes using the pasta bows which a few of the children did very successfully. They then took these back to their room and painted them green when the glue had set. Pre-School Minors had the opportunity to use the glitter paints to make their own pieces of art. The children used either the Christmas stamps or paintbrushes to make marks on the paper. When using two different colours one of the children noticed that they had mixed to make a third colour which they found fascinating. Our craft mornings at Daisykins Whitehall were very successful, with parents coming to join in activities with their children. The children seemed to enjoy doing something different in a different environment so we will definitely be repeating them in the future and doing other themed mornings.
