Physical Fun in Our Soft Play

Using our physical skills to explore our Daisy Tumble

Daisy Tumble is our dedicated soft play area. Our two levelled soft play area is equipped for children of all ages. The ball pit, which is situated in the corner, has a step up platform which allows the younger children to climb onto to gain access to the ball pit. With Daisy Tumble being a dedicated room to promote their physical development, the children are able to visit this room throughout the day as and when they would like to.

Over the course of the week the children at Daisykins Day Nursery visit Daisy Tumble to either enjoy the soft play experience or to engage in an activity, sing nursery rhymes or to have a story or two. Ann, one of the practitioners who is based in Toddler Room, and Simona, our Head of Toddler Room, recently took a group of children into Daisy Tumble to help them to develop different ways of moving, for example; crawling, rolling, tumbling and climbing.

The children in Toddler Room showed a particular interest in climbing up the soft steps and whizzing down the slide on either their tummies or their bottoms. As their play continued several children began to join in and they all took it in turns to go down the slide, saying “Oliva’s turn” as they prompted their friends to have their go next. After exhausting the slide the children climbed to the top of the soft play area to explore the spider’s web netting. They climbed through the spiders net and peeped their head around the post, shouting “BOO!” down to the bottom area of Daisy Tumble. Tall towers were being constructed by the children and Simona, who gave them praise and encouragement. The children found it amusing when their tower got knocked over, laughing and repeating their actions again, rebuilding and knocking their towers over several times.

Having this extra room within the nursery provides many benefits for the children who attend Daisykins Day Nursery. They are able to enjoy the soft play experience whilst developing their gross motor skills. On many occasions, Daisy Tumble is also used as another learning room, with the children in Pre School participating in a letters and sounds activity and the babies listening to music and playing with musical instruments.
