Turning role play area into a school

As part of encouraging the children to make choices practitioners in Pre-School sat and discussed with the children what they would like their role play area to be turned into.The children all decided they would like their role play to be school, they talked about what resources they would like such as registers, an area for their lunch boxes, PE kit, pens to write with and exercises books to do their homework.Once the resources were gathered the children helped the adults set up the area and they couldn't wait to play the role of being a teacher. The children used the resources accordingly and reenacted playing the role of a teacher, taking the register and asking the children to get changed for PE.As the pre-school children at Daisykins Nursery will be starting school soon, creating a role play area based on the theme 'school' will help ease the transition to school.
