Christmas Craft Morning

Our Festive Parent/Carer and Grandparent craft morning

Christmas Craft Morning

This week we held a Christmas craft morning and invited all our parents, carers, grandparents and any other family members to join us. It was a wonderful morning full of lots of fun, glitter and wonderful crafts.

Here at Daisykins we regularly hold events where we invite the children and their families to join us. Sharing these sessions really helps the children to feel safe, secure and settled knowing their parents and extended families feel comfortable and enjoy spending time in the nursery. As Christmas is coming up we decided a Christmas craft morning would be the perfect session to hold this month. Tables were set up with a variety of activities for the children and their families including painting baubles, finger painting wreaths, decorating tree decorations and making Christmas cards. These open ended activities involved lots of learning opportunities as well as lots of fun getting sticky and glittery for the children.

We were very lucky and had many parents and family members join us for this morning. Everybody got involved helping the children to create their own masterpieces. The children had a wonderful time choosing what crafts they would like to make, with some children choosing to make multiples of the same crafts. It was also a great opportunity for practitioners to have conversations with parents and family to talk about the children’s interests and progress at nursery. Not all the childrens parents or family were able to make the session, so we ensured no one was made to feel left out by many of the children joining the session in small groups accompanied by practitioners. This gave the children time to participate in some different activities and to explore and create in a different area than usual and to feel included. The Christmas craft morning was a roaring success with many lovely keepsake crafts made, along with some lovely family memories. To join us on our next family session make sure you follow us on facebook to keep up to date with any future dates.
