Learning all about safety at Rugby Free Nursery

On Thursday 5th January 2017 we joined the Rugby Free School children on a safety talk.The pre-school children met Stewart the Policeman today with Rugby Free Primary reception children. We sat and listened to what Stuart had to say about ‘Stranger Danger’. He explained to us that we must not talk to anyone we do not know or recognise and to find a policeman to help us!

 Stuart also spoke to us about being safe outside. We learnt that we must Stop, Listen and Look before we cross the road and hold the hand of whoever is looking after us. We also learned to wear bright colours if we are outside at night time, the bright colours will make us be more visible to cars and people!A teacher from Rugby Free also dressed up as a police officer and we got to see what Stuart and many other police officers use. He explained what he uses his handcuffs for and how important it is to have his radio on at all times. A lady from the police station then said hello to us all through the radio, we all said Good afternoon back!We all then went outside to look at his fantastic police car! It was covered in lots of bright colours so people can see the car in the dark. Some children then went into the police car and turned the lights on, they flashed blue and they were very bright! Stuart then put the sirens on, we all had to cover our ears it was so loud!After Stuart had finished talking to us, we then were all able to sit in the police car and pretend to catch the ‘bad guys’! What a great afternoon!A big thank you to Rugby free for letting us join you and your special guest and a massive thank you to Stuart for teaching us how to be safe!
