Our Transistion Aproach

How we handle transitions here at Daisykins in Rugby

Transitions at Daisykins Nursery will happen when a child is ready to move up to the next room. At Daisykins Nursery in Rugby, this may happen when moving from babies to Toddlers, Toddlers to Preschool Minors and Preschool Minors to Preschool. These rooms are based on age and also ability and stage. The age brackets for these rooms are a rough guide;

Baby Room - 6 weeks - 18 months

Toddler Room - 18 months to 2 and half

Preschool Minors 2 and half to 3 years

Preschool - September before they start school

Although these rooms are based around ages, the practitioners at Daisykins in Rugby also take into account the child’s ability, stage and also when they start. For example if your child is starting the setting just a month before they reach the next rooms age bracket it may be decided to start them straight in the next room. All these options will be discussed with parents before any decisions are made.

Before children move over to the next room or start the nursery they will attend trial visits for a few hort hours. This helps the children become familiar with the new environment, children and practitioners.

An all about me will be completed when a child starts nursery and a end of room report is completed when a child moves rooms. This is ensure that the practitioners in the next room are aware of likes, dislikes, next steps and any other important information.

All parents will be informed of their child’s new key person and have the opportunity to meet them before their child starts in the new room. Parents will also be shown around the new room and introduced to the practitioners who work in the room if they wish. Parents will also be informed about the routine in the new room.

Bonding with Key Person

Transitions at Daisykins are taken at the child’s and parents pace and each and every step is discussed.
